Welcome to the first review on the blog. My wife and I got married at One Devonshire Gardens in March and decided to stay am extra night before travelling to the USA on our honeymoon. After a spectacular wedding breakfast the day before (highlights including a spectacular fillet of beef and a delightfully light hazelnut souffle) we were eager to see what the regular menu would have in store for us.
The bread (pictured above) has really improved since the new ched has taken over with the selection changing dailly. Unfortunately there was no bacon bread on this occasion (one of the highlights from my Christmas dinner here in December 2011). Instead a thoroughly tasty foccacia bread and one featuring Italian ham kept us both content until the starters arrived.
Anna started with the pea and ham veloute, a delighfully thick pea soup with shredded ham. The texture of the suit was not too thick yet bursting with subtle flavour.
My starter was pigeon which was fantastic. I wish I could remember the full description of the dishes but the weeks have already passed me by. Needless to say the plate was cleared very quickly!
Anna decided to have the beef with foie gras, which was truly devine. The beef was cooked to perfection, and melted in her mouth. The accompanying potatoes and vegatables were also excellent.
I went for the assiette of Lamb, which was incredible. So soft and melted in my mouth like a dream, The textures and flavours of the accompanying vegetables and roast potatoes made this a main course to remember.

Last but not least we both ordered the Souffle Du Jour, which was a Mango Souffle with Coconut and Lime Chantilly and a mango sorbet. Souffle is my favourite dessert and I have to say that this was truly fantastic, the coconut and lime really adding to the mango flavour. Again the souffle didnt suffer from the haviness of some I have had in the past and it wasnt long until we were completely full.
Darren Campbell has done a splendid job since taking over here, and I would be very surprised if he didnt gain Glasgow a well deserved Michelin star in the next guide.
